TURBOJUGEND Schuppen – 1st Birthday Pre-Party
Max Motherfucker (Borneo Jimmy) and Mrs. Motherfucker, both from TURBOJUGEND HOTWEILER, took me on a ride to MARL. This city is localised in Germanys northern Ruhrpott-area and known for coal mining and chemical industry.
We went there to celebrate the first Birthday Party of TURBOJUGEND SCHUPPEN, which was founded in the end of January 2015 and consists of 12 members (11 active and 1 honorary) at the moment. Of course, the members have listened to TURBONEGRO before, but when some of them went to the RUHRPOTT RODEO in 2014, they found out how big TURBOJUGEND actually is and the idea was born to be also a part of the “sailor-nation”.
It was not possible to find a chapter in their direct neighborhood and the chapter of Marl has been inactive for many years by now. Together with the Jugendwart Duncan, they decided to found a new Jugend in Marl and named the chapter SCHUPPEN. The Schuppen is their headquarter and a kind of shed in a backyard of a house. This particular Schuppen is the place, where the members regularly meet for drinking, having BBQs, watching sports on TV and so on. Furthermore, the President “Glamouröser Godfrey” and the other members like to go go-karting, organize pub-tours through cities in their neighborhood, visit a lot of concerts, TURBOJUGEND parties and surely take part at the WELTTURBOJUGENDTAGE.
Our small travelling company arrived at Marl in the evening and met some other sailors and one sailorette for a small pre-party at the apartment of Glamouröser Godfrey. After one hour we went to the JUGENDZENTRUM HAGENBUSCH, where the so called “Respect the Rock” concert took place. SOULSELLER MAGAZINE, which celebrated their fifth birthday, had organized three bands for this event.
SONIC BEAT EXPLOSION started the evening and presented their “High Energy Rock’N’Soul” from ALTENBURG, a city next to LEIPZIG in East Germany.
The second band GOLDEN HELMETS from COLOGNE and ESSEN, Western Germany, were also very good and were able to maintain the high level of quality music.
The BITCH QUEENS is a band from BASEL, Switzerland, and the musicians are sailors of TURBOJUGEND BASEL. Mel Quitt (Vox/Guitar), Harry Darling (Drums/Vox), Danny Schönenberger (Guitar) and Marcel Colomb (Bass /Vox) have been on the road since 2008. They’ve proven themselves in countless shows and a bunch of tours through Europe and Japan. With Mascara and glitter oozing through their veins, there may be no other Swiss formation that can kick more ass on stage or throw a better afterparty than the Bitch Queens.
Their show was, as always, excellent and their punk-rock must have left an erection in everyone’s pants even in these of the sailorettes.
Melchior Quitt told me after the show: “Marl was excellent! As always, the TURBOJUGEND made the difference. Surely, a show is good with a great audience, but combined with Kuttes and glitter: it’s kick-ass! Moreover, each band can be blessed to have the TURBOJUGEND on their side from the first tune on. Most of the concert audiences can learn a lot from the Jugend. That is how it goes!”
During the concert, some group pictures have been taken and as you all are able to see, we had a lot of fun!
It was a spectacular party and really everyone enjoyed it. Some of us didn’t have enough and went to MULVANY’S IRISH PUB.
Unfortunately, I had to leave early Saturday morning and that is why I could not take part in the real birthday party of TURBOJUGEND SCHUPPEN on that day. But I’m really sure that it was awesome and that all the sailors and sailorettes had an erection!
So rock on!
